    Thendral Community Radio Goes Live!

Nalamdana hits the airwaves with health education radio

Thendral Community Radio – with support from the Rotary Club of Madras Coromandel and a global cadre of enthusiastic individual sponsors – officially launched in January this year. The station broadcasts to the greater Neelangarai community for four hours daily with growing listenership and interest. Ms. Supriya Sahu, I.A.S., representing the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, recently visited the studio (photo) and expressed her excitement and support for this important initiative. Thendral is a non commercial FM station located in Nalamdana‘s own office, made possible with permission from the Ministry for Information and Broadcasting. It serves to get local establishments, schools and communities to create their own programs. A non-commercial entertainment-education enterprise, created and launched by Nalamdana! Thendral community radio has a reach from Kottivakkam to VGP on the ECR, and Thoraipakkam and parts of Perungudi on the OMR. There are several IT offices, schools, residences, apartments as well as fishing hamlets who form the “community” of this Community Radio network. Read more here about Thendral Community Radio!
