New Program Tackles Safety Needs in Coastal Communities

Addressing Core Health and Safety Needs in Coastal Communities

NALAMDANA PRIORITY – TAMIL NADU’S FISHING VILLAGES

Supported by the Australian Border Protection and Security Service (ABPS), Nalamdana’s teams continue to work closely with coastal fishing villages to address chronic alcohol abuse challenges and to address rising concerns about border and marine safety. Nalamdana’s initial response to the 2007 tsunami revealed deep needs for health and safety education in these desperately underserved communities. Our special brand of communication methodology has proven particularly successful in increasing awareness and knowledge and changing social norms.
